MID Certified Electricity Metering
Choosing the correct energy monitoring meter for billing applications has just got a whole lot easier. Rayleigh Instruments, a leading UK supplier of electrical energy products has expanded its already wide range of energy management instruments to include five MID approved energy meters for billing applications.
Since October 2006, the new European Directive "MID" (Measuring Instrument Directive) has been in force for all measuring instruments being installed for energy billing applications, including gas; water and electricity. Instruments used to measure energy consumption for the purpose of billing tenants or customers, must be MID approved. Just being "MID compliant" is not enough. Instruments must not only have "Type B" approval, but also "Type D" or "Type F". Rayleigh Instruments' MID Approved energy meters are all either "Type B+D" or "Type B+F" making them fully MID approved for energy monitoring applications.
Obviously, choosing the right meter for the job is key...
For an economical solution for currents up to 45A, the PRO1D V11.222 MID approved (B+D) is a 45A direct connected, single phase kWh meter providing a pulsed output, all from an 18mm wide DIN rail mounted module with backlit LCD screen.
If it's a higher current application you have, then choose the PRO75D MID B+D. This unit offers a 100A direct connection. It is a single phase KWHr meter providing a pulsed output, all from a 75mm wide DIN rail mounted module with 6+2 digit LCD screen.
Need remote monitoring? The PRO75D MID B+D MODBUS version provides all of the above with remote access for clients requiring remote monitoring for energy management systems.
Three phase systems are catered for with the PRO1250D MID B+D. This is a three-phase, -/5A CT driven kWh meter with pulsed output and LCD screen, all packaged in a 126mm wide DIN rail mounted case. CT ratios can be programmed on site at time of installation/commissioning negating the cost and inconvenience of purchasing pre programmed units.
If a MID approved multifunction meter is what you need, the Conto D4-Pt MID (B+F) is the instrument of choice. Measuring a wide range of electrical parameters, this 4-module wide DIN rail mounted -/5A CT driven, 3-phase MID Certified energy meter comes complete with pulse and RS485 outputs. Again, CT ratios can be programmed on site at time of installation/commissioning. Rather have a panel mounted version? Just use the AVKIT4 D4 Flush mounted adaptor for panel mounted applications. The Conto D4-Pt is even compatible with our Metering and Monitoring Data Acquisition Software for Electrical Networks (*MIDAS).
*MIDAS software from Rayleigh Instruments is specifically designed to interface our NEMO range of energy monitoring meters and provides the user centralised monitoring, analysis and management of electrical energy consumption along with other sources of energy consumption including gas and water.

The INELS system is designed for both small and large installations. It is already in widespread use throughout mainland Europe, with many installations ranging from homes to shopping centers. INELS is a modern and intelligent electrical installation which provides effective management of lighting, shutters, Venetian blinds, heating or cooling of individual rooms, security, electrical appliances and even control of television and sound systems. INELS may be operated locally, centrally or remotely. Methods include touch screen panel, universal remote (IR) control, voice activation, computer, mobile phone or internet.

Benefits to the home owner include the provision of an automated and more comfortable living environment, enhanced security, and peace of mind when away from the property, energy savings, prestige and added value to the home. The system can also be expanded in the future without undue expense.

INELS is a winner at CEDIA EXPO 09
Rayleigh Instruments (Building Automation) are delighted with the launch of the INELS intelligent building control system at CEDIA Expo 09.
The interest at the show exceeded expectations. The custom installation market appears to be buoyant and the feedback from the exhibition confirmed the need for a simple building control solution.
Each day an iPod or MP3 player has been won by one lucky visitor, the winners are; Akik Miah from Face to Face Digital, Maciej Bilkiewicz from MGM Builders and Gemma Brown from J S Crawrford Builders who won the MP3 player.
Rayleigh Instruments have been established nearly 50 years as component manufacturers and distributors. The INELS system is designed for both small and large installations, the CU2-01M being the brains and heart of the system sitting on a two wire 'bus' and programmable through the IDM software which is available free upon request. Rayliegh have taken the opportunity to expand into the automation market as a natural path for company expansion. The CU2-01M performs the mediation between the user programmable software environment and the sensors and actuators connected to the bus.

The launch of our Rayleigh Instruments Building Automation web site at www.buildingautomation.uk.com signals the launch of Rayleigh Instruments into the field of intelligent or 'Smart' Building control systems. This is both a logical and exciting progression for Rayleigh Instruments who have been at the forefront of supplying electrical measuring, monitoring and control products for many years.
